Workman Weekend

Hey all!

Hope you enjoyed my interview with Hawksley Workman this week!  On Saturday I had the chance to sit down with the returned-to-indie rocker and we had a nice chat about the Canadian music scene, his latest pair of albums “Milk” and “Meat”, and also what’s next for Hawksley Workman.

I checked out his show later that night as well, and was blown away by the entire three hours he rocked that stage!

Maybe all my gushing doesn’t sound all that professional… but an entertainment host has to let the inner fan out once in awhile!

Hope you got a chance to see the interview on BT – if not, I have a feeling it will be re-appearing in a Best of BT down the road!  I’ll keep ya posted ;)

Any day is a good day for…

…cupcakes! In my opinion, a day can be made better by a sweet treat. We had a little potluck lunch here at the station and I made some chocolate cupcakes for the occassion. But the cupcakes were almost second to my fancy 3-tier cupcake carrier. I’ve never used it before. It holds 36 cupcakes and how often do you really need to make THAT many cupcakes? Also, it’s a lot of work to prep the production of that many cupcakes when you’re just a hobby baker like I am. I’m sure the professionals whip them up much faster.  There’s chocolate buttercream, peanut butter buttercream and cream cheese frosting. Take your pick.

This is one of my favourites.

I saw this story a couple of years ago and actually forgot about it until today (the day AFTER St. Patrick’s Day).  Either way, this story is fantastic on ANY day.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! It’s going to be a gorgeous day in Winnipeg and even if you’re not celebrating, at least get outside and enjoy the warm temperature! I have to say it was the first time in my career that I’ve ever co-hosted with  a leprechaun. I named him Skippy. He doesn’t care for the name but that’s ok.

Last week Brian, Evan and I went down to Wendy’s to raise some money and awareness for the Kidney Foundation of Canada. March is Kidney Health Month and kidney disease is something that a lot of people don’t think about. My mom had part of a kidney removed due to cancer a few years ago so I try to help out the Kidney Foundation whenever possible. Here are some photos from when we did our shift at Wendy’s!

What a fun weekend!

This weekend was the annual Media Lip Sync at the Travelodge in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation.

As always, we entered a team – and while we didn’t come out on top, we had an absolute blast and helped to support a great cause!

It was the 13th year of the competition, so the organizers went with a spook-tastic theme.  Our group chose to do Grease “We Go Together…”, but with a zombie-high twist.  Who doesn’t love a little Greased Lightening with zombies!

And I was especially proud of the group!  One of my co-workers and I choreographed all our dance moves in my living room (yep, that’s not weird at all!) and I was so proud to see the way our team worked hard to learn the steps WHILE singing nonsense words like “Shamma lamma lamma Ka-ding, Ka-ding Dong” and “Shoo Bop Shoo Wadda Wadda”…

Wonderful event… and now that it’s over, we can look ahead to next year!

World Kidney Day

Yesterday was World Kidney Day, and Promoting March as World Kidney Month, was Wendy’s Restaurant.  Wendy’s was donating a portion of the proceeds from all chili sales to the Manitoba Branch of The Kidney Foundation.  Pay and I were asked to come down, and how could we say no?  For me this was like a dream come true!

I even got to make my own burger!

Here are few photos of me trying to be employee of the month:
